Mary Lonnene Wooten, 73, of Weatherford,

Texas passed away peacefully

at Santa Fe Health and Rehab on

Sunday, February 21, 2021. Lonnene

was born on October 8, 1947 to Lonnie

and Rose (Bachor) Wooten, both

deceased. Lonnene was a dedicated

Christian, avid artist and loved working

with children. Her friendly disposition

radiated in her previous hometown of Throckmorton, as

well as with the residents and staff at Santa Fe Health and

Rehab. Lonnene is survived by her children, son James Erik

Latham, wife Sonia and granddaughter Erika Latham; her

daughter Emily Ferenz and husband Cory; granddaughter

Brook Mitchell Steadham and husband Bradley and

great-grandchildren Hazel and Keaton; grandson Richard

Mitchell and his fiancé Kali and great-grandson Kailor; and

grandson Logan Mitchell. Surviving siblings include her

sister, Betty Lee Burden Locke and husband Michael, and

her brother Gary Coker and wife Karen. She was preceded

in death by one sister, Lynda Schrick and brother, Johnny

Wooten. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces and

nephews, who all adored and loved her.

Lonnene was known for her love of teaching children,

especially in the church. She often contributed her artistic

skills to VBS at the Church of Christ and also served as an

aide during her granddaughter Brook’s Girl Scout years.

She also volunteered at the nursing home in Throckmorton

with various activities with the residents. Lonnene

loved to bake pies for Sunday dinners at the church where

she gathered in fellowship with many friends.

There will be no funeral services held; however, we will

hold a small family gathering this summer to spread her

ashes in Coleman.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be

made to the Throckmorton County Youth Activity Center.

The address for mailing donations is Throckmorton County

Youth Activity Center 301 N. Reynolds, Throckmorton,

Texas 76483. There is also a GoFundMe (In Memory of Lonnene

Wooten) set up for online donations.
