Doris Blakeney Davis

October 17, 2022

On Sunday, October 2nd , 2022, Doris Blakeney Davis met her Savior Jesus face to face. Doris was born October 3rd, 1938, in Alvord, Texas to C.A. and Allie Blakeney. Doris graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1956 and completed her Bachelor in Education at Abilene Christian College in 1960. She was an involved student and enjoyed extracurricular activities such as theater and being a member of Ko Jo Kai. Doris met her husband, Billy Davis, at ACC in the Fall of 1959. They were married July 1, 1960 and were blessed with three boys (Don & Stephanie Davis, Danny & Linda Davis, Dave & Cristy Davis), nine grandchildren, and six great- grandchildren. Doris came to know Christ at a very young age. She was a reflection of Jesus who embodied every Fruit of the Spirit. Her laugh was contagious, her smile was heartwarming, her kindness incomparable, and her love and care for people were completely genuine. She had a passion for teaching and directing plays. Because of her dedication to following Jesus, she made it a priority to serve her family, church, and others. She taught many children’s Bible classes and Vacation Bible School events. She was preceded in death by her father C.A. Blakeney, mother Allie Blakeney, and older brother, Earl Blakeney. It is with great joy we celebrate Doris’ life and are thankful she is home with her Heavenly Father, whole and perfect. A memorial will be held Saturday, October 29 at 1:00, Throckmorton Church of Christ. “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom; faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” Proverbs 31: 25-3
